CAMILO, San Miguel Allende, Mexico 2013

image

I see Camilo every time I walk down the hill into town. He is in a wheelchair. He had a bad accident when attempting to avoid a donkey in his car. Now he works in the driveway of his home, cutting out little pieces of wood as stars for birthday table settings or toy trucks and crosses which he paints. His wife sells old clothes which are piled up in mountains in the covered driveway. He is cool…

OTHER WORLDS, San Miguel Allende, Mexico 2013

I was laying down on the floor next to the old tub in my studio just trying out new angles with my camera when I saw this old web…

BITTE RECHT FREUNDLICH!!!, San Miguel Allende, Mexico 2013

My latest collage in its final stages. Material: newspaper, magazine, old German history book, antique erotic print, instructions from packaging of microwave popcorn, packaging from Chinese restaurant chopsticks, decorative paper, note I found, paint.

ACCIDENT WHILE WATERING THE GARDEN (SELF PORTRAIT), San Miguel Allende, Mexico 2013

I was watering the garden at twilight when I somehow really stubbed my toe. I went in to take a shower and realized how bad it was. This tray was in the kitchen and it seemed the right background for a photo. Today I also almost got my finger eaten by a donkey. An indigenous family come now and then and sleep under the leafy fica tree under my window on their way to sell sacks of mulch which are loaded on their three donkeys. I gave them some food and was feeding a banana to one donkey when I got distracted and he got my whole pinky finger in his mouth and was biting down on the bone. I have two teeth marks now.

POP!!! (COLLAGE IN PROGRESS), San Miguel Allende, Mexico 2013

MY NEW ATELIER, San Miguel Allende 2013

Just bought this beautiful piece of wood which I saw by chance on a roadway wood workshop in a little shack. At first the owner did not want to sell it as he had plans to make something with it but I already envisioned it as a bench for my atelier. In the background is one of my fotos from my teenagers in the US series.

MY FAKE PICASSO, San Miguel Allende, Mexico 2013

image

Just hung up my fake Picasso in its fake gold frame yesterday. I brought it all the way over from Germany. Found it at a flea market. So, maybe it really is an original, haha… !!! The other piece of art was made and given to me by a guy who lived on the street of my gallery in Hamburg, Gallery Atomic Salon.

SELF PORTRAIT (END OF THE DAY), San Miguel Allende, Mexico 2013

Every day here at the end of the day the sky clouds over and all hell breaks loose. Sometimes it rains but mostly it is just a hurricane wind that blows my little house full of leaves, branches and seed pods so that every morning I have to sweep it from top to bottom. That’s what I get for living in a house that is built around a giant tree and every room faces outdoors. It is hot as hell and I can’t open the doors or windows or my room will be a disaster area…
